Accessibility guide
Warrington Arts Festival takes place across multiple locations in the town centre from 19th – 27th July 2024. We want to make sure you find our events a safe and welcoming environment.
This page aims to give you access information about the locations that festival events take place at. There is also access information specific to each performance/activity on each event page and available on the event access page here.
Audience members who require access support can book a free companion ticket.

To claim a free companion ticket, please email: info@culturewarrington.org. Please specify the show you’d like to see and include official document that details your disability, neurodiversity, or deaf status. The Box Office will then contact you to finalise the booking.

Festival Venue and Site Information:
Warrington Museum and Art Gallery:

Lilo Lost It, Aphrodite’s House Party, Bring Back Old Billy, and Warrington Arts Festival Open Exhibition take place at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery.

There is level access on to the ground floor of the Museum from the Bold Street entrance (what3words: papers.policy.count).

The doors of the main entrance to the Museum are automatic. The door entrance measures 81cms.

The lift provides access to both the first and second floors of the museum (door to lift– 80cm, interior– 112cm wide. The lift button is 102cms from the floor). The lift has an audio commentary and an illuminated display panel.

There is a unisex accessible toilet on the first floor (with a door width of 94cm). A radar key is required for the accessible toilet, which can be obtained by from a member of staff.

Assistance and guide dogs are welcomed into the building and into the performance space.

There is free on street Blue Badge parking available on Museum Street (outside of The Museum and Art Gallery) and on Palmyra Square North (opposite Knightsbridge Court).

Information specific to Bring Back Old Billy (in the Museum):

A platform lift on Level 2 is used to access the 'Zoology' gallery area, which is situated between Level 1 & 2 (where Bring Back Old Billy is).

The platform lift accesses a small level change.

The lift is approximately 4m (4yd 1ft) from the main lift. Chair lift dimensions; 800mmx1000mm, max weight 225kg.

Staff do need to be notified for use of the lift.
Queen’s Garden and Palmyra Square:

Family Garden Party takes place in Queen’s Garden/ Palmyra Square.

There are various level access points into the park.

There is free on street Blue Badge parking available Palmyra Square North (opposite Knightsbridge Court).

Toilets are located in Parr Hall, which is opposite the park. There is level access into the venue, through the main entrance. The main entrance door is power assisted, and is 130cms wide, there is a push button for the doors 84cms from ground.

There is a deep pile/ underlay carpet in the corridors of Parr Hall- assistance may be required.

The Accessible toilet of Parr Hall is on the ground floor (entrance of the door 90cms wide and 130cms x 190cms). A radar key is needed to open the door and can be requested via member of staff.

A pull down baby change unit is available in the accessible toilet on the ground floor. A key is needed to open the door and can be requested via member of staff.

All activities are planned to take place in Queen’s Garden’s and Palmyra Square. There is wet weather provision of moving into Parr Hall.

Warrington Central Train Station Access:

I am Glad You are Here takes place in Warrington Central, available to passengers arriving on train

There is step free access to all platforms via a lift.

There is a ramped access to the main entrance (assistance may be required).

There are currently no accessible toilets in the station, an accessible Changing Places toilet can be found at Warrington Bus Interchange, which is accessed via Winwick Street and approximately 150meters from the train station.

Pyramid Arts Centre:

The Business of Love and An Evening with Dross take place at Pyramid Arts Centre.

There are two ground floor entrances to Pyramid, both lead to the box office area. The front entrance is on: Palmyra Square South (what3words: never.body.simply) and the back one is on is situated through the car park on Museum Street (what3words: leap.title.trades).

At both entrances, there ramped/ sloped access, with a handrail. The access ramp from the carpark has a medium to steep gradient, assistance maybe required. There are automatically opening doors, also with the option to open using a push pad. The width of the door’s opening is 150cms, and the push pad is 100cms from floor level.

There is lift access to all floors. The clear door width is 90cms, and lift dimensions 120cms x 200cms.

There are 3 accessible toilets in the venue: two on ground floor (one in Exhibition Hall), one on the first floor, and one on 2nd floor, no key is required.

Wheel chair spaces are situated in the front rows of the stalls (which are on the ground floor) of the auditorium. Wheelchair bookings can only be made over the phone on 01925 442345, or in person at the venue.

Unfortunately, at present, there is not a dropped down counter at the bar or box office. Venue staff will be happy to assist you should you require assistance.

Car parking can be found to the rear of the venue, accessed from Winmarleigh Street (entrance what3words: farm.roofd.audio). The car park is managed by an external company. There are 3 Blue Badge spaces available, but parking charges apply to all customers, at all durations/ times. More information is here.

Parr Hall:

Disunited Jukebox - A 21st Century Opera and Icons: Untold Orchestra x Ghetto Fabulous take place at Parr Hall.

There is step free access at the main entrance into the venue, through the main entrance. The main entrance door is power assisted, and is 130cms wide, there is a push button for the doors 84cms from ground.

There is a deep pile/ underlay carpet in the corridors of Parr Hall- assistance may be required.

The width of the door into the performance area is 140cms wide. The doors will be held open.

An Accessible toilet is on the ground floor (entrance of the door 90cms wide and 130cms x 190cms). A radar key is needed to open the door and can be requested via member of staff.

There is a lower counter section at the box office, and ground floor refreshments kiosk of 76cms.

There is a lower counter section in the ground floor bar at 82cms.

There is a drop down baby change in the accessible toilet on the ground floor.

There is no lift access to the first floor.

Golden Square:

Cloudscapes, Squiggle, Blissed Out and Warry Warry take place in and around Golden Square.

Changing Places Accessible toilets are located on the ground floor, of the Blue Zone in Welcome Hall. They are accessed by taking the lift which is situated between Costa and Men Kind to the ground floor (what3words for lift: pure.librarian.proven).

Family rooms, baby change and a feeding room is located in the Blue Zone of Welcome Hall of Golden Square.

Free Blue Badge parking is available all day at Golden Square carpark, which is accessed off Leigh Street (what3words to carpark: elite.critic.melt). Please read the information on how to claim your free Blue Badge parking here.

Assistance dogs and their owners are welcome at Golden Square and into Squiggle. Golden Square ask that the dogs wear an easily recognisable harness or jacket, so they can be identified as an assistance dog.

Bank Park:

Unity takes place at Bank Park.

There are various entrances to the park all of which are open and level access.

There will be accessible toilets installed in Bank Park (dimensions to follow).

There will be a designated area for wheel chair users to view the event from.

Blue Badge parking spaces are available at: Warrington Town Hall, Sankey Street, Warrington, WA1 1UH. Blue Badge holders can park for up to 3 hours for free. Leigh Street carpark (300- 400 meter travel)

Time Square:

No Dragon, No Lion takes place at Time Square.

There is level access has been built into a modern architecturally designed shopping, social and entertainment area. Care should be taken to avoid steps.

An accessible toilet can be found in on the ground floor of the University of Chester’s University Centre (situated in Time Square, opposite the market).

The entrance doors to University Centre are power assisted.
-
The entrance to the accessible toilet is: entrance 80cms, the dimensions of the accessible toilet are: 142cms x 190cms.

Blue badge parking spaces are available at: Time Square Multi Storey Car Park, Bank Street, WA1 2HN. Blue Badge holders can park for up to 3 hours for free.
